Joining Forums – Is It Realy Worth It?

forum

Yesterday, again I was able to reach 50 posts in two new forums I joined two months ago. My signature is now enabled and I can place a number of limited links going to my website, not only for backlinks but for traffic as well. There is a question that most of you will ask, is it worth it; is it worth for the time that you would spend in joining forums, writing those minimum required posts which is usually 50? Well, based on my experience, yes, it is worth it and I’ll tell you why, keep on reading.

Forums are Not Just Source of Quality Backlinks

Forums are well known in the SEO world where you could acquire quality backlinks specially the ones who are well moderated. Because of this, most people, including spammers are flocking forums just for the sake in getting backlinks. But this should not be the case, Forums were not built that way in the first place, acquiring backlinks should come up next in your priority, the most important thing that should be considered first is your participation for the benefit of the community. Share what you know, your thoughts, your opinions and your knowledge.

You Learn a Lot from Forums

In the past months since I started joining forums, I learned a lot from it. You would meet different opinions that would sharpen your judgment, discover lists of niche websites that you thought never existed, learning new terms, their definition, importance and relevance, discover useful websites, meet lots of people from different parts of the globe and many more. But of course there will also be some bad times when you meet some spammers, writing posts with links pointing to some bad websites, but you could always report this to the moderator.

Is It Worth It?

Yes, it’s worth it. The time spent in meeting those required posts (usually 50) which you might think so difficult to attain at the start is well compensated when you reach them. By the time you have reached the requirement and you are ready to place your signature or backlinks, you will feel gratified and feel you’ve accomplished something. You also become part of internet history, remember, those posts that you made will be indexed by search engines, and if they are relevant to searches made by internet users, they will be presented at the top results. And as you continuously participate in them, not only do you become involved in making forums a nice place to spend time with but you also acquire those quality backlink along the way. Not only that, if your posts are very useful, readers will click your link and you will drive traffic to your website as well.

  • Thanks for this good summary.

I totally agree: Forums are definitely worth joining for the reasons you give.

And there’s one other: By the time you’ve racked up a lot of posts that’s a lot of content that you’ve written, which you can easily access through your forum account.

If you save this to a file, you can use it as the raw material for blog posts and articles (as long as you rewrite it to make it unique content, of course). That will give you even more SEO benefit.

  • Great tips thanks so much!
